The origin of the saying:
During WWII, the British government produced a series of posters whose intent was to convey a reassuring message from the King to his people. “KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON” was one of three posters and though millions of copies were printed of all three, “KEEP CALM” never went public, as it was meant for distribution only in the event of a Nazi invasion; which never happened. The font type used in the poster is hand drawn by an unknown artist and the crown is that of King George VI. After the end of the war, a few “KEEP CALM” posters escaped shredding. A poster in good condition can be found at the Imperial War Museum in London, England.
